Cayambe 2 Days

Day 1

Departure from Quito/ at 9 am, we will arrive in private transport up to 4,400 meters. We pick up our backpacks and hike to the refuge at 4,600 meters and after will take a rest and box lunch. We will wearing the gear and go through a glacier training course with a guide before having dinner and resting until midnight.

Day 2

We get up at 12 in the night to get ready in an hour with all the material and make a tea. At midnight we will start climbing to the Summit, that is 5790 m.a.s.l.. To reach the summit one needs seven hours. It is a long journey, beginning at 12:00 at night and arriving at the summit at 6h00 or 7h00 am.

Our arrival at the summit depends on the conditions of the person and the weather conditions. If we arrive, we will be about 20 minutes to enjoy the scenery then return to the refuge, where we will take our equipment and going to Cotopaxi.

Corazón Hike 1 Day

Cotopaxi 2 Days

Day 1: We will meet in Quito at the office at 09:00am and then we will take the South Panamerican Highway all the way down to Machachi where we will change directions towards the east until to the parking lot at (4,500m) where our driver will leave us. Getting to this point normally takes about 1.30 hours in total. Here we will start hiking up carrying our entire luggage until we reach the José Rivas Refugee at 4,800 meters above sea level. Here we will enjoy lunch and rest for a while. In the afternoon we’ll head to the glaciers to practice for the following day and back to the refugee before 6pm. Dinner will be served and we will rest until midnight.

 

Day 2: The team will wake you up at midnight and serve you the breakfast, good enough to give you all the energy that you will need. At 1am we will start ascending the Cotopaxi, we are expected to reach the summit in 6 to 8 hours depending of the physical shape of the group. We will take small paths at a time between 30 and 40 degrees of inclination; some might even have an inclination of 50º. At the top of the Volcano you will be able to enjoy of an unforgettable sight and we will give you enough time to take all the pictures you want and delight on the beauty. It will take us approximately 2 hours to descent back to the refugee where we will pack our things and head back to Quito.
